Weekend Results & Wednesday @ South High

Don Green Invite: Senior Abby Hong finished second in the girls 1600m with a time of 5:11.02 at the elite Don Green Invitational in Moorpark. Complete results are HERE

Culver Invitational: After a 2-year hiatus, the Culver High event was back and better than ever — at least for the Mustangs! Our F/S and Varsity teams had strong performances, bringing home a total of 41 medals (medals were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place).  We had two new-Costa-record-setting performances! Freshman Shante Robinson set the new MCHS Freshman mark of 15.72 in the Girls F/S 100 meter hurdles, a record held since 1999 (probably about the time Shante was born) by Eva Dutton (16.11). Shante was also part of an all-frosh relay team that set the first MCHS all-Frosh record in that event with a time of 52.10. Congrats to those newcomers (pictured, from left): Sierra Andrade, Jenelle King, Emily Jones and Shante Robinson. They’re going to be on the Wall!

Up Next: Wednesday, 2:45, Mustangs compete at 2:45 against the Spartans of South (Torrance) High:
Yes, we’re heading to South Torrance High  (4801 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance CA 90505) where we’ve had many blustery experiences throughout the years — if you’ve got a windbreaker, put it in your car! And as always, layers (and sunscreen…and maybe even a blanket!)

On Tuesday Coach Moe will post a list of athletes competing in this meet. He also suggests they pack a traveling lunch. The bus will be leaving Costa at 1:15.

If athletes will be returning home with a parent or other adult, you must have an Alternate Transportation Form on file with the coaches (one will work for the entire season). Fill it out and have your athlete give it to their coach. Here’s a link: Alternate Transportation Form Keep in mind that District Policy states that students may not drive other students to or from meets.

Athletes not making the trip will check in according to instructions from the Coaches and must remain on campus for 6th period.
