Reed Scale and Sean Griffin will be heading out to Mt. Sac this weekend — do us proud, Mustang Vaulters! The rest of the squad will be representing Costa locally, at the annual invitational at West Torrance High School – South Bay Championships (despite the meet name, it’s not the actual League championships. Those are May 3 at Costa). Frosh/soph athletes will compete Friday afternoon/evening (a bus will be leaving from Costa); Varsity athletes will compete on Saturday (everyone’s on their own for transportation. Despite being officially in Torrance, West High could just as well be called “East Redondo” as it’s walking distance from RUHS. It is located at 20401 Victor St., Torrance, CA 90503). Remember to bring cash, as there is an entry charge and a snack stand. It gets WINDY there, so bring your usual suitcase of trackmeet attire (flip flops, shorts, ugg boots, parkas, etc.)

Team Photo Wednesday, April 24, 2:15ish
Next Wednesday after the Team Meeting, our talented volunteer photographer Brett Hodges will take our Team Photo. The coaches will be reminding the athletes to bring their uniforms and warmups that day — they’ll remind them several times. But just in case your student-athlete has a tendency to forget, please put it on your calendar too! We are also asking those who have a white MCHS T&F T-shirt, or one of the white FISH t-shirts (from PVXC), that they bring them also. Brett will coordinate the kids to spell out “FISH” in white amidst all the green in the group shot.
Next Week — Last Dual Meet, Senior Recognition, Volunteers Needed
On Thursday, April 25, before our last regular season home meet vs. West, we will take a few moments to recognize our Seniors with a small ceremony and group photo shoot at approximately 2:30 at the top of the bleachers by the Fish Banner. Feel free to come early and take your own photos as well. As always, we will need our fantastic volunteers to work this meet and help the snack stand with food donations. Click on over to Volunteer Spot to access both signups (after logging in, you can switch between the food and volunteer signup sites by clicking the menu to the upper left)
Looking Ahead: Bay League Prelims, Finals & the Banquet!
Prelims/Finals: With just one last dual meet to host, our duties are not quite over. We have the privilege of hosting the Preliminaries and Finals for our League. We will need two last Volunteer efforts to pull this off and the coaches are counting on us to continue to show that Mustang spirit! We will need volunteers beginning at noon on Tuesday the 30th, all the way up until evening. Then on Friday, we’ll host Finals beginning at 5 and going until 9:30. As soon as the schedule of events is set, we will be updating the Volunteer Spot to reflect the shifts more accurately. Stay Tuned.
Banquet 5/20: Finally, we will gather to celebrate a season well-done at the annual Team Banquet on May 20, 6 pm at the Manhattan Beach Marriott. Mark your calendars now! We will be sending out invitations soon. Tickets usually run between $30 – $35 (the Boosters Club supplements the cost of the banquet by $5 to $10 per person depending on how well our fundraising has gone, so our families pay less than the actual cost per person. With the extra funds raised by hosting Finals, we hope to keep the cost at $30 or below). Coaches attend for free, as do seniors who have competed in track all four years. If your family — or a local business you frequent — would like to become a Banquet Sponsor (meaning a mention in the program, emails and on the website), please email us at MCTrackBoosters@gmail.com for details.
Snack Stand: Best in the Bay! Let’s Keep it Going!
We continually hear that our snack stand is one of the best in the area, and we know it’s because of our awesome volunteers! Our Snack Stand Co-Chairs, Amy Goldberg & Nina Grande (middle and middle right in a fantastic photo with some of our other wonderful volunteers) have done a spectacular job the past two years. Both will be “retiring” after this season as their kids move on to college. We need a couple of organized, enthusiastic folks to take over. Please email us if you think you might fit into this important job!
See ya in the stands!
