Back from Break: The latest news

Welcome back to the track! Here’s this week’s news:

Varsity Jackets Rep Will be Here Tuesday:
If your athlete is interested in ordering a Varsity jacket, the rep from Albion will make her final visit of the school year on Tuesday at 4:15. To get the order started, she will need a deposit check for $175 made out to Albion. Total cost is approx. $350. Varsity Letters (that go on the jackets) are usually awarded at the team banquet in May. However,  if your athlete has already achieved Varsity status (by scoring 10 points for Varsity in dual meets — 1st place = 5 pts, 2nd 3 pts, 3rd -1 pt),  and would like to letter to be placed on the jacket at the time of manufacture, it is possible to receive it early. Please email Coach Moe Russell if you would like to request your son or daughter’s letter and he will notify the Athletic Department.) If you do not have the letter on Tuesday, it can be mailed to Albion later and still get there in time. The letters, which are approximately $15, are paid for by the Booster Club. A reminder — Jacket Checks are made out to Albion and your athlete should hand the check to the rep. The Boosters do not process the checks for this.

CPK Tuesday Day & Night:
Bring your appetite and CPK 2013 Flyer to CPK in Manhattan Village any time on Tuesday and they’ll give our program 20 percent of your tab (Dine in, take out or catering orders). Come early and often (but remember the rules — you may not distribute flyers in or around the restaurant!) Print some out for your neighbors, friends, coworkers and relatives ahead of time and tell them to come out to support MCHS Track & Field!

Speaking of Fundraising: It’s not too late to Donate!
Our two largest sources of income for this program are parent donations and Mustang Relays. We’re happy to report that Mustang Relays was a great success in that realm, especially so with the help of our new sponsor, Skechers Performance Division. We have had decent participation from parents with donations, but have heard from just over half of you. If you joined the program late, or somehow missed the request for donation info, here’s the donation form. And thank you so much to all who have donated your money — and your time! Donation Form

Away Meet this Week at Peninsula High School
The Mustangs will load the buses and head up the hill to Peninsula High School on Thursday for our second Bay League Meet of the season. A look at a satellite map will show you that the track is on the northeast side of the campus, which is located near the intersection of Silver Spur and Hawthorne in PV. Click on the school name (above) for a link to google maps. Office address is: 27118 Silver Spur Rd, Rolling Hls Ests, CA 90274.

Tourneys/Invitationals This Weekend:
We’ll have additional info for you later in the week, but keep in mind that this Saturday, most of our athletes will be competing at either the Tartar Relays (a frosh-soph event) at Zamperini Field in Torrance or at the Inaugural Palos Verdes High Invitational at PV High. If for any reason your student is unable to compete, they should inform their coach immediately before competition fees are paid
