Volunteers needed – last two home meets!
Hope you had a pleasurable spring break wherever you were! We’re right back into League competition with a key meet versus Peninsula & Leuzinger Thursday. It’s the usual 2:45 start. We still need volunteers to help out with jumps, throws and snack stand for this meet (and also for the last home meet of the season a week from Wednesday). You probably know the drill by now, but just in case you haven’t used our on-line sign up system, here’s the link to Volunteer Spot.
Great showing at Arcadia!
The Arcadia Invitational was again an uber-competitive meet, drawing athletes from throughout the nation. We had some great performances, including a crazy shuttle hurdles 1st place finish after someone fell in our lane (and then the original first place finishers were DQ’d), and a MCHS record-tying performance by Kyle Hubbard in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38:53 (which has him currently ranked 7th in the state). You can see all the results from Arcadia by clicking HERE and searching for Mira Costa.
Varsity: LA County Championships: We will be sending several Varsity athletes to Warren High School in Downey on Saturday for the LA County Championships. As soon as a schedule of events is available online, we’ll get the link to you (hint: our Facebook Fans will have it first!)
Frosh/Soph: Torrance High Tartars Relays
Many of our Frosh/Soph athletes will head a few miles south to New Zamperini Field Saturday for the Tartars Frosh/Soph Relays. Info sheet is HERE (and also on our website on the schedule)
CPK Fundraiser next Tuesday 4/17– all day!
We are looking forward to a great turnout next Tuesday at California Pizza Kitchen at Manhattan Village Mall. Go for lunch or dinner — it’s even good on takeout — pick up lunch for your office! The restaurant will donate 20% of our tabs back to the program when our orders are accompanied by this FLYER. (You’ve GOT to have the flyer — and remember, just like with the Rubio’s fundraiser, we are not allowed to hand out flyers in or around the restaurant or else the whole deal is kaput). It’s the perfect night for you and your athlete to hang out with your Track & Field friends — the next day is double-late-start AND our 5 p.m. meet against cross-town rival Redondo.
Where in the World is Costa T&F?
We wish we’d thought of this BEFORE everyone packed for spring break trips — but if you happened to bring along T&F duds and have a photo of yourself, your athlete, or even your pet wearing Costa T&F in a unique setting, please email it to us at MCTrackBoosters@gmail.com — we’re starting a gallery similar to the Beach Reporter ad.
We look forward to seeing you Thursday afternoon (commencing Sunshine Dance now)
