First Away Meet Thursday 3/8

2:45 at Beverly Hills High
To the 90210 we go!

Battle with the Normans & the Saxons Thursday 3/8 at 2:45 pm:
What is this, World History class? Nope — just our annual tri-meet against the Normans of Beverly Hills and the Saxons of North Torrance at Beverly Hills High School (321 Moreno Ave, BH — the track is at the corner of Spalding & Olympic – south side of campus).
Getting there (Athletes): The athletes will leave directly from Costal (they’ll miss 5th period). Not all students will make the trip, but your son or daughter will know the scoop.
Getting there (Spectators): We probably don’t have to tell you that there is no quick and easy way to get to the 90210 (unless you have a helicopter at your disposal), so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time — especially if your athlete’s event is at the beginning of the meet (4×100 parents, let’s head there right now!) Carefully read the signs in the adjacent neighborhood before parking (there are two-hour restrictions and some streets don’t allow parking until after 3). We are told there is student parking directly behind the school on Heath Ave, although it’s a longish walk to the track from there.
Getting home: If you would like to bring your kiddo home from the meet in your car, remember that they (and consequently, you) have to stay until the meet is complete, and they MUST have a signed Alternate Transportation Form on file with Coach Calderon. You only have to fill out one for the entire season, so click the link, print it, sign it and get it to the Coach. Or, let them take the bus…

Last Saturday: Sun, Skechers, Sammohi
Ever seen so many pairs of new shoes at once? Many thanks to Skechers for donating running shoes to the program. Most athletes received a pair on Saturday — the others will be receiving them soon. What an unexpected, generous gift! Wow! Thank you, Skechers!
We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather or a better performance from our athletes against Santa Monica High (and the volunteers did pretty dang well too!) It was a non-scoring meet, but several athletes achieved new personal records (that’s called “PR-ing” for the uninitiated).  Thanks to all of you for your continued support on the field and in the Snack Stand. Now that you’ve seen how it works, hopefully you will be ready to help when we host the Mustang Relays at the end of the month. But first, let’s enjoy being the Guests for a few meets, shall we?

Invitational Schedule Changes: You may have noticed that the Ventura Invitational is crossed out on our online schedule. We will not be sending athletes to this meet. There’s also a possibility that we’ll send participants to an April 18 Frosh/Soph Meet at Torrance HS. More info to come on that one. Check the website often!

The 2012 Photo Gallery is Up! Thanks so much to our photographers Jeff Tong, Dinh Au and Janice Adler for getting it started. Fantastic photos in there! You can download them for free, but if you’d like to have them printed, and mailed to you, a portion goes to the T&F program. If you have some to add, just let us know! (The link is also available on the Photos tab).

See you at BHHS Thursday afternoon — we’ll be the ones rockin’ those fancy Mustang Green Stadium Chairs!
