Results from State Meet in Clovis, CA

We are so proud of Shante Robinson — she competed in the 300 hurdles at the State prelims yesterday. Although she didn’t qualify to run in finals today, she had a phenomenal season. What will sophomore year bring? Hats off, young lady!

Shante Robinson headed to the State Meet!

Great job to Shante Robinson at the Masters Meet!  She has earned herself a spot at the State Meet and will be competing next Friday, 6/6 in Clovis.  Go Shante!  Results from the Masters Meet HERE.

Team Photo If your athlete did not attend the Team Banquet, or did not receive a Team Photo, please have them contact Coach Calderon. The Boosters had one printed for each athlete in the program.

Track & Field needs your Voices! School Board Meeting Next Wednesday, June 4 at  6:30!
Next Wednesday night the MBUSD will be addressing the issue of funding as it relates to Coach Stipends. As you know, for the past two years, our Booster Club has had to raise all funds associated with running our program (including bus transportation and coaches compensation). As a solidified group, the Boosters from all the athletic programs at MCHS have asked the School Board to resume paying coaches. We need support and voices at that meeting.  If you or your student would like to speak at the meeting (3 minutes or less), please email us at MCTrackBoosters@gmail.com and we will give you all the pertinent details.

Banquet Gratitude: It was quite a group effort, as you might imagine, to pull off an event for 365 people! We had gift wrappers, foot “soldiers” who solicited gifts and restaurant certificates for the coaches, RSVP counters, money depositers, candy centerpiece makers, shoppers, hotel liaison, slideshow creators, check-in table help, projector gurus, table setters, program editor, program folders and general “what do you need” helpers that that arrived early. So many that we probably have unintentionally left someone out, but know that you are all appreciated!

Chairs: Michelle Lautanen, Laura Hodges, Cindy McMahon
Support Team: Shannon Anderson, Daryle Aniello, MaryLou Cahir, Janna Grundeken, Brett Hodges, Jada Hong, Karen Hunt, Jenee Julius, Joe McMahon, Nancy Pappas, Kelly Perez, Janice Polizzotto, Lan Shirazi, Cecilia Verket, Jennifer Williams

Closing out the Booster Business: We are in the process of closing the books on this season, wrapping up all the details and filling our leadership positions for next year. If you have an interest in joining the Board, please reply to this message. We currently need someone to organize the Restaurant Fundraisers (such as the CPK night), someone to manage sales-related fundraisers (such as the Jamba Card fundraiser), an apparel sales co-chair (to assist our Uniform and Spirit Gear chairs), and a few other areas.

We will have our next Board Meeting on Sunday, June 8 at 1:30 pm at a private home. If you are interested in attending, please email us at MCTrackBoosters@gmail.com and we will send you the address (We’re not trying to be mysterious, we’re just trying to protect personal information.)

Biggest Banquet Ever! We have 336 confirmed attendees for Monday night’s Banquet. We have had a large number of late RSVPs, and so we must thank the Marriott in advance for allowing us to go past the deadline (that was Wednesday, by the way….) If you want to make sure your response has been received, you can check out the Who’s Coming List. (Inclusion on the list doesn’t necessarily mean your payment has been received — some have given verbal “yes” and promised to send in payment, so please do so!). If you’re not on the list and think you have bought your ticket already, please email Laura Hodges immediately.

Banquet Help: We will have a group (and need more folks) to help put together our centerpieces tomorrow between Noon and 2. (The Marriott has reserved a smaller room for us to do this since our Banquet room will be in use until 4:15!) We will also need a group to help with check-in from 5 until 6:15. And, there are a couple of mid-day errands to bet run a gifts to be wrapped. Please email us at MCTrackBoosters@gmail.com if you can help out for a couple of hours.

Track Banquet

Team Banquet — It is time to buy your tickets! Seems like the parent meeting was just a few weeks ago, and here we are with the end of season Team Banquet coming up May 19. Please send your response and payment in as soon as possible. We will need to have final numbers to the Marriott Thursday. In case your athlete didn’t bring home the invite, here’s THE BANQUET FLYER and a quick detail reminder:
Who: All athletes, coaches, families
What: Team Banquet
Where: Manhattan Beach Marriott
When: Monday, May 19, 6 pm – 10 pm (checkin begins at 5:30)
Cost: $35 per person attending (seniors who have competed in track all four years are free but still must RSVP).

Two ways to pay/RSVP:
1. Preferred: We prefer checks (made out to MBx), along with the return portion of the flyer, sent to school with your athlete (to Coach Calderon or Coach Moe) or mailed to Track Boosters, PO 1195, Manhattan Beach CA 90267. Mark the envelope: “Track Banquet”

2. Credit: You may use the MBx website to pay with credit cards (please add $1.50 per ticket so that the Boosters will not lose money on the convenience. Our cost is $35 per person, so with the credit card fee, we will not cover our cost). Here’s how to do that:
1. Follow this link: http://mbxfoundation.org/shop/product/59-track
2. Enter the amount of your charge ($36.50 x # of tickets)
3. Write in your athlete’s name
4. In the comments section, say how many people are coming, indicate if you will need a vegetarian meal, and if anyone in your group is a four-year-senior (free). You may also add a donation to help cover our coaches’ meals.
5. Email Laura Hodges and let her know all this information (or send in the flyer filled out indicating that you paid via credit card online.)

Whatever you do, do it quickly!!! We have to give final numbers to the Marriott first thing Thursday! There will be awards, individual athlete recognition, great food, good times — we’ve had more than 300 people attend the last several years!
