Biggest Banquet Ever! We have 336 confirmed attendees for Monday night’s Banquet. We have had a large number of late RSVPs, and so we must thank the Marriott in advance for allowing us to go past the deadline (that was Wednesday, by the way….) If you want to make sure your response has been received, you can check out the Who’s Coming List. (Inclusion on the list doesn’t necessarily mean your payment has been received — some have given verbal “yes” and promised to send in payment, so please do so!). If you’re not on the list and think you have bought your ticket already, please email Laura Hodges immediately.

Banquet Help: We will have a group (and need more folks) to help put together our centerpieces tomorrow between Noon and 2. (The Marriott has reserved a smaller room for us to do this since our Banquet room will be in use until 4:15!) We will also need a group to help with check-in from 5 until 6:15. And, there are a couple of mid-day errands to bet run a gifts to be wrapped. Please email us at if you can help out for a couple of hours.

Track Banquet

Team Banquet — It is time to buy your tickets! Seems like the parent meeting was just a few weeks ago, and here we are with the end of season Team Banquet coming up May 19. Please send your response and payment in as soon as possible. We will need to have final numbers to the Marriott Thursday. In case your athlete didn’t bring home the invite, here’s THE BANQUET FLYER and a quick detail reminder:
Who: All athletes, coaches, families
What: Team Banquet
Where: Manhattan Beach Marriott
When: Monday, May 19, 6 pm – 10 pm (checkin begins at 5:30)
Cost: $35 per person attending (seniors who have competed in track all four years are free but still must RSVP).

Two ways to pay/RSVP:
1. Preferred: We prefer checks (made out to MBx), along with the return portion of the flyer, sent to school with your athlete (to Coach Calderon or Coach Moe) or mailed to Track Boosters, PO 1195, Manhattan Beach CA 90267. Mark the envelope: “Track Banquet”

2. Credit: You may use the MBx website to pay with credit cards (please add $1.50 per ticket so that the Boosters will not lose money on the convenience. Our cost is $35 per person, so with the credit card fee, we will not cover our cost). Here’s how to do that:
1. Follow this link:
2. Enter the amount of your charge ($36.50 x # of tickets)
3. Write in your athlete’s name
4. In the comments section, say how many people are coming, indicate if you will need a vegetarian meal, and if anyone in your group is a four-year-senior (free). You may also add a donation to help cover our coaches’ meals.
5. Email Laura Hodges and let her know all this information (or send in the flyer filled out indicating that you paid via credit card online.)

Whatever you do, do it quickly!!! We have to give final numbers to the Marriott first thing Thursday! There will be awards, individual athlete recognition, great food, good times — we’ve had more than 300 people attend the last several years!

Bay League Finals: Varsity Pole Vault 5 pm, everything else 6 pm start

Bay League Finals Friday 5/9 Redondo Union- time adjustment: Varsity Pole Vault will get under way at 5 pm — but running events and all other field events will commence at 6. Here is the meet program/heat sheet listing

2014 Bay League Finals Program

Traffic and parking advisory: Many streets near the track stadium are by permit only. Please read carefully before you park! Also, RB Police will have a DUI checkpoint in an unknown location tonight, so give yourself plenty of time in case you get caught in traffic as they stop every car. (And OBVIOUSLY, don’t drink and drive!)

Parents are asked to stay off of the infield during the meet, and athletes should exit the field after their event is complete to avoid crowding. Always be award of what’s happening on the track before you cross!

The Frosh/Soph squad will be competing for Bay League Champion status and this will be their last meet of the season. Varsity athletes will also compete for Bay League Champion status, with the goal of qualifying to continue into the post-season next Saturday at CIF Division 2 Prelims at  Moorpark High School.

Bay League Finals admissions: $7 adults, $5 Senior Citizens and Students with ID, Kids under 5 free

A few Banquet FAQs:
Is it just for athletes? No — many parents and siblings come to the event. We have had 300 or more people each of the past 4 years!
Is it really 4 hours? Yes — but it moves along. It used to be over 5 hours, so the coaches have done a lot to streamline it. (such as having squad breakout sessions).
What’s the attire? Business or business casual. Many girls wear dresses and boys wear ties. You can check out 2012’s smugmug Banquet pix to get an idea.
How can I help? So Glad you asked! There are lots of ways to help:
1. Send in your check and RSVP quickly — that helps SO much as the Marriott wants to know our final numbers the week before.
2. Do you have connections that might donate an item for a door prize or perhaps as part of the coach’s gifts (we have 9 coaches)? Let us know!
3. We would love help the day of the banquet setting up the centerpieces and distributing the programs. We will meet around noon and hopefully be done in an hours’ time.
4. Check-in table: We ask that folks begin arriving around 5:30 so that we are ready to get started right at 6 pm. We can always use extra hands at the check-in table to keep things moving.
